SEN. BRINKLEY TAKES OATH,
BEGINS LEGISLATIVE SERVICE

For Immediate Release: November 16, 2010

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Rick Brinkley is officially on the job in the Oklahoma Legislature. The Owasso Republican legislator was formally sworn in for his first Senate term at the State Capitol on Tuesday.

“While going door to door during the fall campaign, I had an excellent opportunity to meet and talk to the people of District 34, and hear their views and concerns. I’m looking forward to putting that knowledge to work on their behalf,” said Brinkley.

Senate President Pro Tempore Designate Brian Bingman said he was looking forward to working with the freshman lawmaker.

“Our number one focus this session must be jobs. Creating a pro-business environment, prioritizing our resources to enable us to invest in infrastructure and enhancing the quality of education are initiatives that will help our state prosper. I’m sure Senator Brinkley will work hard to make those things happen for his district and for all of Oklahoma," Bingman said.

The Legislature will convene for a one-day organizational meeting in January and will begin the formal 2011 session on Monday, February 7

Phase II Streetscape Progressing
Crews were removing the old sidewalks by the Family Pharmacy Monday (above) Nov. 15, 2010 to prepare for the new streetscape improvements in the two blocks now under construction. Forms are in place (Tuesday Nov. 16th below) on the southeast corner of 10th and Main and east toward 9th. I suspect concrete will be flowing in just a few days if weather allows. -- Ted
