Bishop Kelley struck quickly (after taking the opening kickoff at their own 28) with a touchdown pass on their first play from scrimmage. The extra point kick was good for a 0-7 score.
Collinsville tried a halfback pass (Tyler Lowe towards Michael Anderson) on their first play from scrimmage but Bishop Kelley intercepted and had the ball at Collinsville's 37 yard line.
Kelley's 2nd play from scrimmage was also a pass near Collinsville end zone but was broken up by Shane Goossen (#21). BK tried a 50 yard field goal that fell just short at 10:10 in the first quarter.
Already down 14-0 (after another BK TD pass) in the first quarter, Tyler Lowe (#22) made a big run from Collinsville's 40 all the way down to Bishop Kelley's 15 and then to the 4 yard line on the next play.
Starting from the 4 yard line, this Shane Douglass (#9) keeper ended with the ball on the turf and recovered by Bishop Kelley ended the Cardinal threat to cut the score in half late in the first quarter.
Bishop Kelley couldn't hang on to the ball either, fumbling on the first play after the Cards dropped it. I suspect most players had no idea where the ball was (sitting on the goal line) but Kelley's #10 scooped it up and advanced out to the 14 yard line. Kelley covered 86 yards on the next play but a holding call brought it back to the 7. Kelley eventually advanced out to mid field but Collinsville took over on downs with a 4th & 1 stop at the 48 early in the 2nd quarter.
With 3:39 left in the first half Collinsville had reached the Bishop Kelley 12 yard line. They gained two more to the 10 before being sacked back to the 20.
Josh Pennington (#81) was well defended and couldn't make the catch on this 4th &19 Shane Douglass pass in the back of the endzone with 1:44 left in the first half.
Dylan Dyer (#83) made the stop on this play at the Cards 37 with BK driving in the final minutes of the 1st half.
The BK receiver couldn't hang on to this pass after a Cardinall hit and a rough landing with 22 second left in the first half. Bishop Kelley scored on a 7 yard pass two plays later and put the halftime score at 0-21.
Channel 47 was apparently filming the game but I was unable to find a broadcast schedule on their web site. -- Ted
The Collinsville band entertained from the stands but did not march Friday night in Tulsa at Bishop Kelley's Stadium.
Bailey Chambers (2010 Miss Collinsville Outstanding Teen), a member of Bishop Kelley's Spirit Team, posed (front row center) for a photo with Collinsville's Cheerleaders before the game Friday.
Collinsville's Head Football Coach Kevin Jones also had a BK connection having coached there for 5 years before coming to Collinsville Schools in 2007. 2010 Fall Sports Sponsor (Football)
