SUNY ORANGE PROFESSOR RECEIVES CHANCELLOR'S AWARD
Business Professor Lucinda Fleming Cited for Teaching Excellence

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. - SUNY Orange professor Lucinda Fleming has earned one of the highest honors presented to community college faculty within the State University of New York with the recent announcement that she will receive the 2010 Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence.

The Chancellor's Award is presented annually to those faculty members who have excelled within the classroom. Fleming will receive the medal that signifies a Chancellor's Award recipient during SUNY Orange's 60th Commencement Ceremony, scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, May 22.

Since joining the SUNY Orange faculty in 2001, Fleming has been a valued member of the College's Business Department. She currently serves as assistant chair of the department after having served for several years as chair of the Business Management Department before the College merged it with the Accounting Department. At one point in her nine years at SUNY Orange, Fleming has taught virtually every possible business, marketing or management course.

She has helped integrate online learning into the College's curriculum and has developed many online and hybrid business courses. She completed the proposal for a business management degree program currently being offered at SUNY Orange's new Newburgh Campus and she works closely with those high school faculty who teach business courses through SUNY Orange's Community College in the High School (CCHS) program.

Lucinda is a 1981 graduate of Collinsville High School. She is the daughter of Linda Fleming of Collinsville and Eddie Fleming of Owasso.

Collinsville 5th graders (still wrapping up their studies at Herald Elementary) had a chance to learn more about their pending Middle School experience that will begin this August. They had a chance (Tuesday evening April 27, 2010) to meet the administrators, tour the facilities, and hear the progress this year's 6th graders have made after just one year in band and chorus.
