The new sod in many area of the park was the likely concern combined with the potential for rain Sunday (which didn't happen until about dark) that caused city oficial to postpone the planned Sunday activities. The park dedication, Little Mr & Miss Firecracker Contest and fireworks will likely be moved to next Friday July 9th. All the other park improvements were available Sunday (except the splash pad water was not turned on yet and the streets were still blocked.).
Park Had Been Closed For Construction of Improvements Since May 13, 2010 To Help Reach The July 4th Target. Construction Began Feb. 23, 2010.
Many new trees have also been planted in the park so there will be more shade in years to come.
