Partial new sidewalks are in place now in two separate areas of the Streetscae Phase II construction zones on Collinsville's Main Street. A small section was poured Wednesday in front of the Library and almost the entire length of the block on the south side of Main between 9th & 10 was in place before Wednesday.
The former stretch of sidewalk that is now part of the roadway is now covered with asphalt in front of the American Legion Building. During phase I the gap was left gravel covered for months pending the total overlay ofMain Street.
Appeared that even more of the initial curb pour was being removed near 10th and Main Wednesday.
Not part of the streetscape ... but yet another city improvement in progress... there is sewer work being done the past few weeks between Spring & South Streets near 13th Street. I'm guessing this is a part of the DEQ consent order for sewer line improvements at various parts of the city identified during the smoke tests and engineering analysis in previous years. -- Ted
