Compliment |
I
know we dont tell people enough when they are doing a good job; most of
the time we can do a pretty good job of complaining. I wanted you and the people
that help you do this web page to understand I really appreciate what you do for
the community here in Collinsville. I am really proud to tell family and friends
to go to our web site, and read and see pictures of this community. Then they
may understand why I chose Collinsville to live and raise TJ. Its not that
the property is cheaper than any other place in Northeastern Oklahoma; it is the
character and quality of the people here that makes this a special place to live.
You do an excellent job at showing that on your web site keep up the good work. Thank you , Terrell Johnson Sr. (9/25/2009) |
Key
Ingredients: America by Food |
The
Collinsville Library will be submitting a grant to the Oklahoma Humanities Council
for a Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition coming to Oklahoma in 2011. Six communities
in Oklahoma will be chosen to have the exhibit in their town. The Name of the Exhibit is Key Ingredients: America by Food. This exhibit explores the connections between Americans and the foods they produce, prepare, preserve, and present at the table - a provocative and thoughtful look at historical, regional, and social traditions that merge in everyday meals and celebrations. We plan to include as many organizations in Collinsville who want to be part of the additional activities planned by Collinsville to supplement the six week exhibit. For instance the Home Representative Club will hold an Apron Fashion Show...to show how the apron was an important tool throughout history and how it has evolved. The PEO is discussing a presentation of local foods at the Fashion show. We are hoping to include the Collinsville Schools, CV Fair Board, local 4-H group, FFA, American Indian Education, Scout Groups, various restaurants and great local cooks, the Garden Club and those who participate in the Farmer's Market, Downtown, Inc.,Collinsville City Hall, The Collinsville Chamber of Commerce and many other organizations in our plans for the six week event. The grant is due by October 15. I am asking those of you who would be interested in helping and those who have already said you would help to write a letter of support for the grant. The activites do not have to have all details in place for the grant. We will have time to develop them later. Ideas for participation can be fun as well as educational. Also volunteers are vital to the effort. I will need a letter to submit with the grant application from your organization on your letterhead stating that your organization supports the idea of having The Key Ingredients: America by Food Traveling Exhibit in Collinsville, OK. If you want to state what you want to do to help that is fine or just saying your support the exhibit will be sufficient for now. You may mail the letter to Dr. Susan Babbitt, Collinsville Library, 1223 W. Main, Collinsville, OK, 74021 or email the letter to sbabbit@tulsalibrary.org Please address the letter to: Dr. Susan Babbitt Collinsville Library, Branch of Tulsa City-County Library 1223 W. Main Collinsville, OK 74021 If you have questions or need clarification please call or email me. One way to help is to offer a team of volunteers to help with the actual exhibit or activities. This will be a great event for Collinsville....let's go for it.... Susan sbabbit@tulsalibrary.org -- 630-8832 (9/22/2009) |
Great
Site |
Ted,
Great Site. Really love to check out what's going on in C-ville. Makes me think
of the way your father reported the news way back then (human interest stories).
We need more good news reported like you do. |

The
Volunteers and Staff of the Ward-Wiseman Animal Haven are pleased to announce
their Homecoming Royalty for 2009. Queen Megan Doan and Princess Erin Doan are
the daughters of Cindy Doan. Megan is a Sophomore at Collinsville High School,
loves animals and wants to be a veterinarian. Erin is a Collinsville High School
Freshman and loves spending time with all the animals she loves at the Animal
Haven. Both are members of the Collinsville FFA & FCCLA. Megan and Erin both
attend Stage Art Productions dance studio and are part of the Xtreme Praise Team.
They enjoy dancing at community events and love teaching younger children to dance.
Megan and Erin are members of Kirk of the Hills Evangelical Presbyterian Church
where they are active in the Kirk youth group. They enjoy attending Christian
concerts like Skillet, Kutless, TFK and Seventh Day Slumber. Ward-Wiseman Animal Havens King is Justin Loggins. Justin is the 16 year old son of Robb and Michelle Loggins. He is a Junior at Collinsville High School where he is President of the Art Club. He is one of the key members of the WWAH outside adoptions team and loves spending time with the animals at the Haven. Justin enjoys Anime and Cosplay and wants to be a voice actor when he grows up. Prince Tyler Lutz is the son of Kevin and Deb Lutz. He is Collinsville High School Freshman and wants to become a K-9 police officer. Tyler is the Collinsville Dairy Capitol 4-H Club Vice President and a member of Boy Scout Troop 84 in Owasso. He enjoys spending his time in service to others by doing volunteer work. Tyler volunteers not only with the WWAH but also with the Collinsville VFW, the 138th Fighter Wing Family Readiness Group in Tulsa, and a variety of service projects through 4-H. There are many students who volunteer at the WWAH and of those who volunteer, Justin, Tyler, Megan and Erin are the high school students who have donated the most hours. These 4 outstanding students are dedicated to volunteering at WWAH, they have worked a combined total of almost 525 recorded hours, and they have done so with smiles and enthusiasm. They and others like them are an important part of WWAH. Ward-Wiseman Animal Haven can always use more volunteers like Megan, Justin, Erin and Tyler. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering please fill out a volunteer form and return it to the Haven. Forms can be found at the Collinsville Public Library, The WWAH or online at: www.wwahonline.org. |
