Collinsville's
Lady Cards were 1 out from beating McAlester 1-0 Friday evening at the 5A State
Softball Tournament in OKC before this play. Instead, McAlester singled in this
run from 2nd to tie the score at 1-1. Another hit followed for a walk-off 1-2
McAlester elimination of Collinsville from the double elimination tournament.
The final sequence followed a 7th inning error and walk which extended the inning.
Collinsville had scored their run in the 7th as visitors in the evening game.
Collinsville had lost 1-2 in the first game of the day to the the same top-ranked
McAlester team before a 2-0 win eliminating Duncan. Collinsville had beaten Carl
Albert 5-1 Thursday.
I
have no photos from Thursday but will try to add the following photos in game
sequence for Friday's 3 games. -- Ted
McAlester
(in white) and Collinsville (in red pants) warmed up for a noon game Friday in
the 5A "B" winners bracket at the ASA softball complex at Oklahoma City.
The Remington horse racing track provided the west backdrop for Field 4 which
hosted 5A games (both brackets) all day. All Oklahoma fast-pitch classes (6A-5A-4A-3A-2A-A-B)
were present at the complex as the smaller classes had their games postponed by
rain earlier in the week.
Lacie
Cook (#5) led off 8 of the 21 innings Friday based on my unofficial notes. --
Ted
Samantha
Smith (#15) got the first Collinsville hit in the 1st inning of McAlester game
1.
Randi
Gilmartin (#19) with a pick off attempt from catcher Rachel Pitts was just a step
late with this 3rd inning tag.
A
walk and an error had McAlester runners at 2nd and 3rd with just 1 out before
pitcher Kylee Cole (#7) went to her knees to field and throw out a McAlester runner
at first for the 2nd out in the 3rd inning. McAlester then scored their only runs
in game 1 with a 2-out double.
Kylee
Cole (#7) pitched all 21 innings for Collinsville shutting out Duncan and only
allowing McAlester scores in 2 innings (all unearned). Rachel Pitts was catching.
Marysa
Trost (#6) in center field.
2nd
baseman Kristina Shearer (#4) with a 4th inning throw to Randi Gilmartin.
The
state's best pitchers (& teams) were gathered in OKC Friday. Two outstanding
pitchers battled each other in 2 games between Collinsville (Kylee Cole batting
here) and McAlester (Taylor Dewbery).
Marysa
Trost (center) and Shannon Driggers (right field). Samantha Smith (not in this
photo) was in left field). Emily Varner was at 3rd and Cook at shortstop.
This
combo (Lacie Cook on the bases and Randi Gilmartin at the plate) provided the
only run in both McAlester games. In the first game (above) Randi's 2-out 6th
inning grounder was mis-played at 1st base and Lacie kept running from 2nd and
scored below. Lacie had also reached base on an error and was advanced to 2nd
by a Marysa Trost sacrafice.
Lacie
Cook slid safely into home plate to get Collinsville within a run at 1-2 in the
6th inning of the first McAlester game. Collinsville got a base runner on in the
7th (Rachel Pitts walked) but did not score again.
The
Collinsville Softball Ladies did a little dance in their pre-game preparation
for Duncan in the 3pm Friday game.
