Letters
To The Editor |
Just so you know, I don't publish every "Letter To The Editor" that I receive. I try to limit my own bias and have no problem using those that I may disagree with. But there are cases (in my opinion) when a public forum is not the best first choice for dealing with a problem. I received a letter Friday with some school issues and opinions mixed together. Rather than put that letter online, I took a copy to the school administration for their comment. Based on what I learned from the school and a followup from the letter writer, it appears the issues have been addressed (an apparent shortage of freshman English text books and a discipline concern). I would recommend anyone with an issue with the school take that concern directly to the school for resolution. If you are still not satisfied later, I would consider airing your concern to the general public. I'm
sure I have violated this rule before myself by airing an opinion or complaint
without first going directly to the responsible party or organization (e.g. the
city) but will try to do better in the future. |
