Note too many McClains fans made the trip to Collinsville but the McClain drum corp and dancers did their best to fill up their end of the visitor stands.
Tyler Lowe (#22) gained 9 yards with this Shane Douglas pass to the 24 yard line (following the Wood fumble recovery) to start Collinsville's first possession.
Will Wood (#44) bounced into the endzone and had at least one official signal touchdown with a pass (from the 23) but the ball was marked down at the 2 yard line in the first Cardinal possession.
Steven Majike (#36) scored Collinsville's first touchdown on this run from about the 1 foot line at 8:52 in the first quarter. James Norris kicked the extra point for a 7-0 score.
Jamaro Oakley recovered this onside kickoff following the first Collinsville TD. Collinsville started their 2nd possession at their own 47 yard line.
Merin Oakley (#30) rushed to the 16 yard line on this 2nd possession carry but the play was called back due to a holding penalty. The drive eventually got back down to the 15 but stalled there with McClain taking over on downs with 6:24 left in the first quarter.
The Cardinal offensive line (L-R): Jacob Smith (68), Tanner Robb (#35), Justin Caruthers (#55), Tucker George (#56 Center), and Colby Phillips (#52). Quarterback Shane Douglas (#9) is ready for the shotgun snap.
On Collinsville's 3rd possession Merin Oakley (#30) took a short Shane Douglas pass and sprinted about 55 yards down the sideline for a Cardinal touchdown with 2:11 left in the first quarter.
James Norris (#34) kicked the extra point for a 14-0 score where it remained until late in the 4th quarter.
Trevor Rabbitt (#32) intercepted a McClain pass near mid-field and returned it to the 34 yard line with 1:45 left in the 1st quarter.
Joe Keith (#28) made the stop on this short McClain gain late in the 1st quarter.
The swarming Collinsville defense held McClain in check most of the evening with plays such as these.
This is the closest McClain came to scoring on this 4th and 9 pass incompletion from the 17 with Keith and Rabbitt defending at 7:17 in the 2nd quarter.
