7th
& 8th Cardinals Sweep Bristow Purple Pirates The Collinsville Middle School football teams had outstanding performances Tuesday night at Sallee Field. The 7th grade dominated on both sides of the ball. The line play of the Cardinals was overwhelming for the Purple Pirates. The speed and skills of the Cardinal backs and receivers was too much for the Bristow 7th grade. The final score 26-12. The 7th grade improves their record to 4-2. The 8th grade football team had only one thing on their mind Tuesday night and that was to WIN! Both teams traded scores and the lead throughout the contest. Bristow had a tough running back, but not as tough as the Cardinal defense. The Code Red defense denied the Pirate tailback on several critical situations. With just 20 seconds left on the clock, and the score tied 20-20; the Cardinal O-line opened a huge hole on the right side of the line. Conner Crutchfield powered threw and dashed 80 yards for the winning touchdown. The score 28-20. The 8th grade improves their record to 4-1-1. 7th & 8th Cardinals Split with Mannford Pirates The
Collinsville Cardinal 7th grade football team was just too much for the Mannford
Pirates Thursday night. Under poor field conditions, the running game of CMS crushed
the Purple Pirates. Great defense and hard hitting lead to several Mannford turnovers
and the CMS 7th grade football team coast to an easy victory over Mannford 20-6.
The 7th grade improve their record to 5-2. The 8th grade contest with Mannford saw terrible field conditions. With temperature falling during the night the 8th grade could not find a rhythm on offense. Without quarterback Colton Brewer during the second quarter, out with an ankle injury, moving the ball was difficult. Mannford had 3 BIG plays for the night with each big play resulting in a touchdown. The final score 19-8. The 8th grade are 4-2-1 for the season. The 8th grade plays their final game of the season against Cleveland October 27th @ Sallee Field following the 7th grade game. |
