My daughter Samantha emailed a photo of herself smiling and wearing a new ring, with the subject line reading "Exciting New Thing", but no other text, Thursday June 18th. The phone rang within minutes with a bit more information. Samantha had accepted the marriage proposal from her boyfriend, Scott Joseph Horne, June 17, 2009. Samantha and Scott both live in Austin, Texas, where Samantha is employed at Terra Toys. Samantha's mother, Patti Jones, lives in Colorado. A spring 2010 wedding is now in the planning stages. -- Ted Wright -- 6/20/2009 Collinsville, OK
Australia Visit
Samantha had been in Australia for a vacation with her sister Emily in May 2009. Scott joined their tourist travels briefly also as in this photo along Great Ocean Road..
Samantha & Scott looking at koalas in the trees at Phillip Island Koala Preserve.
Emily Wright and a koala.
Samantha with kangaroos.
Emily & Samantha on the Melbourne Skydeck (88th floor!).
If you noticed the coats in some photos, Australia was headed into winter in May, just as we were headed into Oklahoma summer. Emily has been in Australia for just about 2 years now and is hoping to wrap up her masters program soon at James Cook University. -- Ted
Father's Day Reflection
With this page already filled with my daughter's photos and Father's Day tomorrow (June 21, 2009) this was the first photo I could find that had my girls and my dad (20 years ago) in 1989. L-R: Emily, Ted, Samantha and John Wright. Dad had "retired" and sold the newspaper about two years before. For any newcomers, this building was at 1108 W. Main before Tharyn Nachtigall purchased and restored to the original (1916) Marmont Building facade (next door to the Newspaper Museum in Collinsville). -- Ted
