School Will Present AIDS, STD Curricula

Collinsville Public School will be teaching the state mandated AIDS Prevention Education and Sexually Transmitted Disease Prevention Curricula to the 7th and 10th grade students.
American Red Cross will present the program for 10th grade students as well as Alternative School and Kim Loftin R.N. and Connie Bettega R.N. will present the 7th grade program. Parents may attend a presentation of the curricula, which will be used for this year's Prevention program, on February 24, 2009 at 7p.m. in the Wilson Elementary Cafeteria.

The Prevention curricula for 7th and 10th grade will be available for parents to view at either Wilson Elementary, 402 N. 17th or Herald Elementary 12818 N. 129th E. Ave. in the Nurse office from 8:30-3:15pm Monday through Friday between February 25, 2009 to March 31, 2009. The Wilson Health Office number is 371-4125 and the Herald Health Office number is 371-1773. You may call and make an appointment to view these materials.

No student shall be required to participate in the AIDS or STD Prevention Education if a parent or guardian of the student objects in writing to such participation. Parents who DO NOT want their children (7th or 10th grade and alternative school) to receive these prevention programs this year are required to send a letter to the school before March 27, 2009, at the following address:
