Mike Brenan (left) had the winning ticket for the four wheeler donated by Kent's Custom Cars & Trucks for the Chamber's Merchant Giveaway Saturday.
"Ugly" Christmas Sweater was the name of the contest but the judges struggled before finally awarding the top 3 prizes to these contestants.
Collinsville shoppers (and a few from out-of-town) made for a good sized crowd at the city plaza Saturday as they checked their ticket numbers in hopes of winning the many prizes awarded by drawing.
More Christmas Sweaters
There weren't a lot of cookie entries in the Christmas Cookie Contest but the judjes (below) enjoyed their "work" Saturday.
Blade Nelson (center in the red hat) felt good enough Saturday (home briefly while still taking chemo treatment) to draw tickets for the "Hannah's Helping Hands, Inc." prizes before the Chamber drawing. There will be a benefit for Blade Monday (Dec. 14th) at Chilli's.
City Hall was full of young kids sharing lunch with Santa Saturday (after the Christmas Parade).
I don't have any specific numbers but based on a few samples of long ticket chains in the plaza crowd Saturday it would appear that there have been at least a few serious shoppers in Collinsville in the past few weeks. -- Ted
Phil Ostrander was the emcee for the Chamber's merchant giveaway drawing with several young volunteers selecting the winning tickets.
Nichole Landrum (center) deserves a ton of credit for spearheading the effort for the Chamber of Commerce for the giveaway, parade and other activiries Saturday.
The photos on this page show just a few of the many winners Saturday Dec. 12, 2009.
