Bruce Kern supplied this aerial view of the new Main Street Bridge and concrete pavement from the bridge to 5th Street. The east side of the bridge still just has the asphalt base. I'm not sure if Bruce took the photo May 5th or 6th? More about Bruce's
aerial photography company: |
I took these photos from ground level with the left photo from about 7th & Main looking east towards the new bridge. The right photo was taken near the Cherokee Tag Agency looking west toward the bridge (& downtown). -- Ted Wright (Tuesday morning May 6th) |
Pavement for the final 2 lanes of Main between the new bridge and 5th was being forned this morning. The left photo is from the bridge and the photo above shows the progress of the paving machine (at Karen's) by about 10:30am. -- Ted -- Monday 5/5/2008 |
Previous Coverage: The asphalt sub-surface was in place by April 19th on the west side of the bridge. |
Previous Coverage: The asphalt sub-surface was started on the east side of the new bridge April 17th. |
The message from this January 2008 postcard is still true ... but we are much closer to traveling over a brand new 4-lane gateway to east Collinsville with easier access & more traffic to these businesses that have suffered for month. -- Ted -- May 7, 2008 |
Previous Coverage: Shortly after the new Broadway Bridge was dedicated and the dignataries had cleared the area, traffic from Main Street was detoured to Broadway. This will allow the 2-lane Main Street Bridge over Blackjack Creek to be torn down and replaced with a 4-lane bridge. (Nov. 14, 2008) |
