I have heard unofficially that the state re-asphalting of Main to complete the two block project might begin in mid August. -- Ted
House Fire 7-31-2008
Fire Chief Russell Young hauled hoses to the entrance of a smouldering house fire in the 1400 block of West Spring Thursday afternoon as other city firemen prepared their gear to enter the house about 3:30pm.
The residents of the William Gougler and Natalie Hubbard household were thrilled each time the fireman brought out one of their animals safely. A dog, cat and guinea pig were brought out while I was watching and one cat was still unaccounted for. -- Ted
I did not see the interior of the house but saw numerous smouldering household items carried out by the fireman indicating at least extensive smoke damage in parts of the house. -- Ted
Summer Reading Winding Down
The Summer Reading Program comes to an end on August 3. We want to remind parents that it is not too late to sign up for the SRP and if the children and teens have already registered be sure they complete the program to be eligible for several nice prizes.
The benefits of keeping our children ready all summer are numerous.

Also the CV Library needs everyone's help to bring in 37.63 tons of newspaper, newsprint, office paper, shredded paper (in bags, magazines, and catalogs to earn $1,000 for library. We still need 18.2 tons to reach our goal. The contest runs through August. Abitibi cannot recycle heavy cardboard or phone books.

All of the staff at CV Library have a soft spot in our hearts for all our library customers. You are the best!
