The Collinsville City Fire Department had called for backup by Collinsville Rural, but already had the flames knocked down by the time I arrived at 1909 W. Main just minutes after midnight Saturday. The home's interior appeared to have extensive smoke and fire damage.
These two photos are unrelated to the house fire that occured later the same day but conveniently fill out this page. I happened by Saturday afternoon as Collinsville fightfighters were experimenting with features on their "new" truck which arrived here Wednesday Dec. 26th.
With Collinsville's trees thinned by the Dec. 9-10 ice storm, I am noticing views previously blocked. This photo taken near the Library (looking south on 13th Street) shows homes all the way to the top of "Smelter Hill". -- Ted
