Already down by 7 points, the Collinsville 3rd Grade Red football team was fighting just to keep Bixby from scoring another touchdown from the 9 yard line in the final minute of the game.
Instead of Bixby scoring (from the 9) Collinsville's Sheaffer Smith (#23) scooped up the Bixby fumble (above) and ran it in for a 90 yard Collinsville touchdown (below).
By the time Sheaffer Smith (#23) reached the endzone there were only 36.1 seconds left in regulation. Smith also ran in the extra point to tie the game at 7-7.
There was no time left on the clock but the 3rd grade Cardinal cheer leaders weren't through cheering as Collinsville had forced the 1st round playoff game into overtime here Saturday.
The Collinsville team had a canine fan watching from a pickup on the sidelines.
Several Collinsville tacklers (including Justin Walker #14 and Levi Draper #44) brought down this Bixby runner in early 2nd half action. Bixby scored their first touchdown in the first half.
Sheaffer Smith (#23) and Justin Walker (#14) combined on this Bixby stop in the 3rd quarter.
Collinsville was unable to score on their 4 overtime offensive tries. Bixby followed with a touhdown run on their turn for the 7-13 win.
The 3rd graders and their coaches work on a plan during a timeout in the 4th quarter. Their season is now over.
