Josh Walker led off the inning with a walk and scored when David Chester connected for his first home run of the year. Walker's first home run of the game was hit from the right side of the plate and his second from the left side of the plate, which is a uncommon accomplishment in baseball and one that cost his father, Joe, a $100. Way to go Josh! Shawn Curtis started pitching for the Cardinals and held the Pirates to three hits and one earned run while striking out two and walking four. Belitz relieved Curtis in the fifth and struck out the side to end the game. == Curtis, Belitz (5) and Coe. W: Curtis (1-0). HR: Walker 2 and Chester |
