Several hundred Collinsville residents joined in the fun and patriotic activities Monday evening in the Collinsville City Park. They enjoyed fireworks, water mellon, face painting, pop corn, a dunk tank, horse rides, jupiter jumps, bubble gum blowing, horse shoe pitching, sack races, clown balloon animals, snow cones and visiting with friends and neighbors. The local band "Smokin' Tumbleweed" provided musical entertainment.
City employees were working the entire evening to keep the fun flowing and then cleaning up after all others were gone. The official city thank you added 7/6/2006 follows:
The City of Collinsville would like to thank everyone that played a part in the Independence Day Celebration. It was a huge success thanks to every one of you.
If you enjoyed the fireworks show, please stop by the Fire Department and thank a fireman. Firing those things off is not an easy job. Its hot and dangerous. They did a great job!
We thank the following for the monetary donations. These generous donors made the fireworks display a hit!
Grand River Dam
Authority
We thank the following businesses for their support. These generous donors gave prizes which made the games and festivities a hit!
Bill & Ruths
We thank Victory Energy for the use of the trailer. The band had a great stage! We thank the VFW Post 3077 for the flag folding ceremony. It was very moving. Many were touched by the reading as well as honoring our soldiers, past and present. We live in a great city and a great country. Many have died to allow us to maintain our freedomslet us never forget.
