Fire at 131st St. N.
& 97th E. Ave.
Thursday ~5:45pm
3 Pets Died

While walking through the field east of the burning house near 131st St. N. and 97th East Ave. I spotted a charred creature I could barely recognize as a cat. The poor animal must have been in the house before crawling away with extensive injuries. I notified the neighbors and Owasso Police on the scene but do not know if the cat could survive. -- Ted 4/13
I received a report today that the home owner lost almost everything in the fire and has 2 cats still under treatment at this time. -- Ted 4/17
"The owner (Lynda Palazzo) of the house that burned down was a close friend of mine and my husband. She was at work at the time of the fire and her son is away at basic training in Ft.Benning, GA. Three cats and a dog were lost in the fire." -- (Additional email received 4/17)
Hello my name is Dwight Baker. I was close and personal friends with Lynda Palazzo, the victim of last weeks unfortunate fire off of 131st and 97th. I’m trying to gather any house hold items and clothing. She is about 5’ 3” and weighs about 105 lbs. I’m really hoping for a blessing that may have trailer home that they can spare and maybe someone can set it up for her as she has hook ups on another part of the property. This lady has been like a mom to me and her son Patrick has been my best friend for the better of 6 ½ years. They lost their dog Sheridan (a black lab ) and three cats. All we were able to salvage were two bibles, yes two bibles. The covers were charred but the pages were only singed on the edges. This just goes to show that even in our most desperate times the good lord is always watching over us. My phone # is 376-9691 (or email: kryptonitegod1977@cox.net). I do not have a storage unit for any donations so if anyone would like to donate some space until she is able to find permanent shelter that would be a great blessing for us all. Her two surviving cats are doing well their names are ALPHA and OMEGA. They are now eating and able to drink fluids.
Please limit phone calls to 10 am – 7 pm. -- (4/17 email)
I am Lynda Palazzo and am ok. I just learned of your web site due to the fire. The cat that was taken to Owasso is expected to live and carry his scars with pride. He is Omega and is my son's cat. I found Alpha about 36 hours later . He crawled beneath my car and mewed. I thought he was a neighbor's cat and took him to Eastside only to realize he was mine. Dr. Ward thinks he will make it. He is still on an IV. I am staying in south Tulsa for the time being. I want to thank more people than I know for so much they did. The Rural Fire Dept. suffered from my fire and I can't thank them enough. I hope to be able to get clean up started within a couple of weeks. -- 4/18/2006
Lynda Palazzo, who had a house near 131st St. N. and 97th East Ave. that burned down on April 13, needs help from her Collinsville community, city and rural: The debris needs to be bulldozed away. Without significant financial resources, this will be a great challenge for Lynda. Are there neighbors (many of them) willing to help with the clearing, and is there a bulldozer available to finish the job?

I had heard emergency vehicles leave Collinsville earlier while covering the CHS baseball game when I noticed a hugh plume of black smoke several miles south and a bit west of the baseball field in Collinsville (at about 5:45pm April 13th). By the time I arrived at the fire, the house was mostly gone. I have no information on the occupants of the home. A neighbor indicated a Lynda Palazzo was the resident but he did not know if anyone had been at home. -- Ted Wright 7:15pm 4/13/2006
This was the view approaching the smoke from the north on 97th E. Ave from Collinsville.
