As Tina Quiring opened her garage door Monday evening she saw the door explode off the hot water tank closet and fly into the middle of the garage floor. There was also a minor fire until the Collinsville Rural Fire Chief arrived and shut off the propane. The Chief was in the area (near the home of Jerry & Tina Quiring north of Collinsville) and he arrived before the Rural Fire truck about 8:15 pm April 3rd, 2006. The Chief said it appeared to him the tank was not burning fuel correctly for some time and an accumulation of gas was either ignited by the rush of air as the garage door opened or just happened as the tank fired up. No one was injured and the damage was limited to the tank area in the garage.
