Email Report from
Debi Whisenhunt (Sunday Sept 11th): Saturdays championship bracket was single elimination. The Lady Cardinals faced Bristow in the first game Saturday. Kelli Dunagan started as pitcher and Abby Miller came in to close the game in the 6th inning. Bristow had no hits and 12 strikeouts in a perfect game. Jordan Perkins and Kelli Dunagan each had two hits in the game. Taylor Whisenhunt, Kayti Bryant, Hillary Brown and Mariah McElroy all had one hit. The Lady Cardinals won 6-0. The second match-up was against the Miami Lady Wardogs. Taylor Whisenhunt had a leadoff single and Rebyl Richardson brought her in for the only score of the game. Kelli Dunagan pitched another perfect game and had 11 strikeouts in the 1-0 win. In the championship
finals Collinsville faced the Meeker Lady Bulldogs, one of only two
teams to give the Lady Cardinals a loss this season. Kelli Dunagan again
pitched for Collinsville. Although the Lady Cardinals were in scoring
position several times throughout the game they couldnt seem to
execute a scoring run. The game was decided in the 9th inning on an
unearned run when Hillary Brown drew a walk and then Mariah McElroys
slap hit advanced Brown to second base. On a steal to third base the
Meeker catcher threw the ball and no one was there. The ball went to
the outfield allowing Brown to easily score giving Collinsville a 1-0
victory. Taylor Whisenhunt was 3-4 at the plate. Kelli Dunagan had two
hits. Rebyl Richardson, Hillary Brown and Mariah McElroy each had one
hit. |
