OBITUARY OF EVELYN J. COOK
Evelyn Cook was born March 26, 1940 in Collinsville, Oklahoma to Alonzo Allen and Edna Peace (Cooper) Kidd. She departed this life on October 4, 2005 at the age of 65 years, 6 months and 9 days.
Evelyn had lived in Salina since 1976, she moved there from San Diego, California. Evelyn attended Laverne University in San Diego, California where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Computer Science. Went she moved back to Oklahoma she earned her Masters Degree in Education from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She taught English, Math and Computer Science at Locust Grove from 1977 to 1995. Evelyn was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was also a member of the National Education Association (NEA), Oklahoma Education Association (OEA) and Mayes County Retired Teachers Association. She was married to Eligah Cook on August 1, 1961 of Oceanic, Virginia; he preceded her in death on March 15, 1999. Evelyn enjoyed traveling and doing arts & crafts. Her greatest enjoyment was her grandchildren and always enjoyed for them to come and stay with her.
Evelyn is survived by 2 sons Robert Cook and wife Peggy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Gary Cook of Salina, Oklahoma, 3 grandchildren, 1 brother Jon Kidd and wife Pat of Adair, Oklahoma, 2 sisters Virginia King and Jamie Mayfield both of Collinsville, Oklahoma. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents Alonzo Allen and Edna Peace (Cooper) Kidd, 2 brothers Jim Kidd and Tommy Kidd, 1 daughter-in-law.
