The Collinsville Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Friday to signify a "new" member business on Main Street in Collinsville. Legends owners Steve and Nicole Doss are no strangers to Collinsville. They also own and operate the "Legends Bar-B-Q & Steak Joint" at German Corner. Their downtown Collinsville location is at 8th and Main.
An early morning rain Friday (July 1st) gave us some much needed moisture and cooled things off just a bit heading into the July 4th weekend.

News Release --
Mayor Stan Sallee Welcomed to
Statewide Association of Mayors

Mayor Stan Sallee of the City of Collinsville was named a member of the Oklahoma Conference of Mayors (OCOM). With that membership, the mayor joins a prestigoius list of community leaders who made the commitment to work through the conference to improve their own communities as well as the conditions facing cities and towns throughout the state and nation.

OCOM President Rex Morrell, Mayor of Tishomingo, wishes to extend congratulations to Oklahoma mayors on their membership in the conference. "Elected municipal leaders today are called on to have an understanding of the people and the vision for the community they represent. Not only is it necessary for them to govern their respectful community with patience, dedication and commitment, mayors must also keep a watchful eye on state and federal issues. Issues that can effect, not only the day-to-day business of their municipality, but the long-term goals and utimately, the future of their community."

"I commend alll those selected for OCOM membership for taking the stand to maintain vital communications with legislators, to interact and share ideas with other municipal leaders and to serve not only their own community but cities and towns throughout the state and nation," Morrell stated.

"I challenge and encourage citizens to contact your mayor or council member and ask how you can get involved in your community. Almost certainly there is a community board, commission, or volunteer group that can use your help," Morrell added.

The Oklahoma Conference of Mayors was formed in 1991 as a bipartisan organization to represent the concerns and views of the state's mayors. OCOM provides a vehicle for the development and implementation of programs of multi-jurisdictional cooperation between cities and towns designed to lessen the burden on local government.
