Cherokee Nation Supporting
Law Enforcement
and Bridge Rebuild
Collinsville Police Chief Charlie Annis accepts a $5000 check presented by Buel Anglen from the Cherokee Nation for local law enforcement. Chief Annis said the money "couldn't have come at a better time" and will be used for training and equipment. Anglen is the District 8 Cherokee Tribal Councilman and represents the Collinsville area. The check presentation took place Wednesday (Aug. 24th) at the American Bank in Collinsville but there is also a followup planned for the Sept. 13th Victory Cherokee Organization monthly meeting (at Trinity Faith Church).
Before the police check presentation (left), Tami Marler of KOTV Channel 6 interviewed Buel Anglen and Collinsville Mayor Stan Sallee about the Cherokee Nation's financial support to help rebuild the Broadway Bridge. That interview ran at 6pm on Aug. 24th and the check presentation was on the 10pm news segment.
The Collinsville based Victory Cherokee Organization had a booth set up during the Fair / Founder's Day parade Saturday Aug. 20th. They provided information and displayed the Indian art work they are providing by bid and drawings. (VCO Web Site)
