District Champs -- 2005 Collinsville Cardinal Baseball Team
Jonathan Beweley (#16) easily scored ahead of the throw from down the 3rd base line. This still left the Cards trailing 2-4 in the 3rd inning of the 2nd game. Josh Walker got the RBI with a double.
Kevin Phillips (#4) is greeted by Coach Reeder as he circled the bases during his grand slam home run that put the Cards up 10-1 in the 4th inning of the first District game Wednesday against Miami. The final score was 13-2 in Collinsville's favor.
Matt Sowards (#3) had a 2-run homer in the 5th inning of the 2nd game. Collinsville started the 5th inning trailing 3-4 and ended up ahead 11-4 which held up as the final score in the 7th.
Collinsville's High School baseball team advanced to Regional play next week with 2 wins April 27th over Vinita. The Cardinals won the first game 13-2 with a complete game victory for Chris Treibt (#13). I didn't see who pitched for Collinsville in the first 3 innings of the second game but Alex Belitz (#14) and Kevin Phillips (#4) finished out the game with a 11-4 score. David Chester caught the first game and Matt Sowards was the 2nd game catcher.
Alex Belitz (#14) pitching in the 2nd game Wednesday with Josh Walker (#7) defending first base. Chris Treibt (#13) pitching in the first game against Vinita here April 27th.
The stands and the hillside were full of Cardinal fans Wednesday afternoon as CHS students had a chance to purchase tickets and attend the 1:00 game to finish out their school day.
