Public Meeting
Reviews Conceptual Streetscape Plans for Portions of Main Street

More detailed plans (pending final approval by the Collinsville City Commission of the concept) will be submitted to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) by Landplan Consultants, Inc. by the Jan. 3, 2005 deadline. That application will apply approximately $143K of Collinsville's Vision 2025 funds for downtown beautification toward the project in hopes of receiving another $507K in ODOT grants for the project. Grant winners will not be announced until the April/May 2005 time frame. If Collinsville does not get the ODOT grant, a scaled back project will be substituted for the $650K project discussed today. If Collinsville does get the grant, construction would likely not start until Jan. 2006 and would be staged to minimize inconvenience to shoppers and merchants in the affected areas.

More than 40 interested citizens came to the Library Tuesday to hear about and view the conceptual plans for proposed improvements to downtown Collinsville. The initial plans (and budget) are for a two block area along Main Street (between 10th & 12th) with center turn lanes, corner bumpouts, new sidewalks, pedestrian lighting, plants and other improvements.
Keith Franklin of Landplan Consultans, Inc. showed examples of successful projects in other Oklahoma and Arkansas communities. The sample slide above shows some of the features in the corner bumpouts in the Collinsville plan including curb ramps, drainage improvements and increased protection and visibility for pedestrians crossing Main.
Brad Francis, Stacy Brown, Bill Thomas and Keith Franklin discuss the plans and drawings following the Nov. 23rd public meeting.
