Band
Director Stephanie Cottrell leads the 6th & 7th grade bands through a practice
at the city park this morning (May 6th).
A
concert in the park may seem like a new idea, but it is actually something that
was quite popular in early days in Collinsville. I do not have a location for
the 1912 Collinsville band stand above, but suspect it was in the city park
which was likely east of town at that time. -- Ted Wright
While
the morning photo at left shows an empty park during practice, the evening photo
above shows a portion of the nice crowd that enjoyed the music presented by
the 6th & 7th grade bands followed by the High School Band.
The
bands did not have the full attention of everyone in the park, as many of the
smaller kids enjoyed playing in or near the creek.
CHS
senior Kim Green
was presented the band's top award (the Sousa Award) Saturday May 8th at the
band banquet by Band Director Stephanie Cottrell.
