The CHS Varsity Girls Basketball team improved their record by 8 more wins this year than last. Staci West and Erica Holly will play in the upcoming Girls Basketball All Conference game at Sperry. Shannon Slagle made honorable mention All-Conference.
These freshman boys stood three times (for freshman, JV & varsity basketball teams) and their coach explained they typically had games 4 nights a week. Several members of the boys basketball team could not attend the banquet due to a baseball game.
These 5 cheerleaders (& the Cardinal Mascot) supported the basketball teams this season. Two additional cheerleaders supported the wrestling team.
Wrestling coach Mike Henry accepts a gift from senior Tyler Howard. Tyler won his third consecutive state wrestling title this weekend. He finished his high school career with a 144-4 record. He lost 3 matches as a freshman, lost 1 as a sophomore, and was undefeated as a junior and senior. Tyler will attend West Point after graduation.
These CHS wrestlers won a third place team finish for Collinsville at the 3A State tournament. Two also won individual state titles. Two won state runnerup titles. They were joined in this photo by senior Brandon Rake who just missed joining them at state by a few points at the regionals.
Note: There were many other basketball players & managers, wrestlers & mat maids, cheerleaders, sponsors, coaches and parents recognized for their contributions to the CHS winter sports. One in particular was wrestler Davie Henry who blew out a knee at the Skiatook Dual. Rather than forfiet the match in progress, he continued wrestling and even pinned his opponent. Davie had surgery after that match and missed the rest of the season.
